Elder Dale G. Renlund dedicated Mexico’s 15th temple, tying San Luis Potosí’s history of silver and rivers to the sacred treasures and living water found in the house of the Lord.

Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Church Newsroom reports that it is Mexico's 15th operating house of the Lord.

Treasure, water and a royal road

San Luis Potosí grew up around silver discovered more than 400 years ago and became a stop on what is often called the "Silver Route." The north of the state is rich in rivers, springs and waterfalls. Elder Renlund tied that history to the temple: for centuries people came to the region for treasure from the earth, water from its rivers and connection with other communities, and now the Lord has given another reason to come.

He described temple worship as offering sacred treasures, living water and access to the "royal road" of the covenant path, the road that leads God's children to their eternal inheritance.

Power to endure and to heal

Elder Renlund testified that those who make and keep temple covenants gain greater access to the power of Jesus Christ, power that helps them withstand trials, temptations and heartaches, both inside the temple and beyond its walls. He quoted President Russell M. Nelson's teaching that nothing will protect us more, bolster our testimony more or open the heavens more than the temple.

He also spoke of the temple's capacity to heal. "Temple blessings can heal hearts and lives and families," he said. He added that temple covenants connect us with both our ancestors and future generations, giving eternal meaning to family relationships.

Focus on the Savior

Elder Moisés Villanueva, President of the Church's Mexico Area, taught that our joy is tied less to our circumstances than to our focus on Jesus Christ and the plan of happiness, and that the temple helps members stay focused on their covenants.

Elder and Sister Renlund were joined by Elder and Sister Villanueva and by Elder Taylor G. Godoy of the Temple Department and his wife, Carol.

What's next in Mexico

Mexico has another 12 temples announced or under construction. The Torreón Mexico Temple is scheduled to be dedicated on November 22.
